TARA
IACOBUCCI

Tara (Tommasiello) Iacobucci has been dancing since the age of two, beginning her studies under the direction of Debi Cusick D'Iorio. In 1996, with the guidance of the late Ann Beretta Morsilli, Tara began focusing solely on her ballet technique with Festival Ballet of Rhode Island under the late Christine Hennessey. She quickly landed the role of Clara in their annual production of “The Nutcracker" in 1998, and went on to dance a wide variety of roles in this ballet, as well as many others such as Les Sylphides, Sleeping Beauty, Dracula, Swan Lake, Firebird, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. While dancing with Festival, Tara had the honor of working with Winthrop Corey, Patricia Dubois, and Colleen Cavanaugh...to name just a few.  She danced in ballets alongside Sascha Radetsky, a now retired ABT Soloist and the lead "Charlie" in the film "Center Stage", as well as the ever regal Gennadi Saveliev and Alexandra Koltun. In 2001, Tara professionally joined the Senior Company under their new name, Festival Ballet Providence, under the direction of Mihailo Djuric.

Since then, Tara has continued to study under many prestigious names in the industry, these including Andy Blankenbuehler, Kim Craven, Joey Dowling, Teddy Forance, Anneke Hansen, Scott Jovovich, Jason Parsons, Andy Pellick, Cindy Salgado, Katy Spreadbury, Suzi Taylor, and Stacey Tookey...to name just a few! Her students and choreography are repeatedly recognized within the competitive dance industry: being recognized as scholarship winners at various conventions, receiving numerous Highest Overall Scoring Awards, being awarded the prestigious Critics Choice Award from New York City Dance Alliance and Best of JUMP/Best Nu Groups from both JUMP and Nuvo conventions, honored with choreography, execution and interpretation awards, as well as Regional and National Titles! Her students have also been featured on the cover of national costume magazines as well as many more within the catalog pages. The dancers under her tutelage go on to attend such colleges as Marymount Manhattan, Montclair State University, Elon University, Dean College, American University (and many more) to pursue a career in the performance arts. A couple have even gone further to receive their Masters!  Tara teaches a variety of classes for The Talent Factory in North Kingstown, RI (www.talentfactoryri.com) and after directing and choreographing their Elite Dance Company training program for years, she was promoted as the competitive dance program's Creative Director.  This role allows Tara to take the lead in the full training schedule of the pre-professional dance company, scheduling many guest artists to visit throughout the season and offering state of the art opportunities throughout Rhode Island.  In the studio, Tara takes pride in running her classes with a constant, motivating energy. She strives to continuously push the personal boundaries that surround movement while always incorporating a great level of interpretation and diversity in each class.

Tara is a Judge and Convention Teacher for Turn It Around Tour (www.turnitaroundtour.com) and Dance Masters of America (www.dancedea.com), while also frequenting many other competitions/conventions. She joined the team of Spot Correctors and you can request Tara's advice at any time by visiting https://www.spotcorrections.com/spotcorrector/tara-iacobucci. She often visits dance companies, organizations and studios all over the country to hold classes and set choreography, and many dancers graciously travel to RI to work with Tara. Her choreography had the pleasure to be a part of the 2013 Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, where emerging choreographers from all over the United States come together and share the brilliance of their artistry. She has expanded her resume and knowledge of the industry by taking on, and participating in, a couple film projects with William & Monique Wingfield.  Most recently, Tara and her close friend/inspiration, Andy Pellick, danced in a film telling the story of their friendship, entitled "Stand By Me". It was promoted by Dance Teacher Magazine, both online and in print!

In June 2019, Tara danced on the Tusten Theater stage in the Catskills (NY) for a night of contemporary dance alongside so many beautiful talents from Broadway, Twyla Tharp, and so much more!  She was also excited to have the opportunity to hold an audition at Joffrey Ballet School in NYC for a piece she choreographed for the school's graduating Year Four dancers, the video which you can find under the "Choreography" tab.  Tara has just begun to branch out to visit and work with dancers training on the collegiate level, to further pursue a career in the performing arts.  In January 2020, Tara graciously debuted her own choreography (and dancers!) on the Joyce Theater stage in NYC for NYCDA's College Scholarship Foundation event, Destiny Rising.

Tara never feels complacent and continuously enjoys putting herself in front of new ventures and projects that allow for growth and fulfillment.  Whether it is personally performing, continuing to learn while taking class, teaching, choreographing or mentoring the next generation of eager artists, she enjoys the rich fulfillment of it all.  She is extremely proud of the next chapter in her story, as she just accepted a position as an Adjunct Professor at Dean College!
